My Progress with Ernesto the Owl

Ernesto the Owl

I’m almost finished with Ernesto the owl. Just need some finishing touches and he’ll be looking for a new home.

I’ve put several fun hours into creating this plump Christmas owl and I can’t wait to see what he will look like on tote bags, wood art, and all the other products available in my online shops. I’ll keep you posted when the original is available and when the products are loaded in my shops.

Ernesto the Owl

I used an H pencil to trace Ernesto.
When using watercolors, it’s all about layering colors. So fun!!

I’d like to introduce, Ernesto the owl to you all.
I’m currently using watercolor pencils to create this cutie pie. My hope is to share my progress with you all on a daily basis.

I’m debating on whether to change the background. What color would you suggest for the background?

Owlet Watercolor Painting

I’m almost finished with this adorable owlet watercolor painting. Owls are my all-time favorite birds and a frequent subject of my art pieces. Owls are beautiful and mysterious looking birds. I adore them so much.

I am a beginner watercolorist and have been enjoying practicing. I feel that I’m getting better every day. Like they say, “Practice makes Perfect!” I try my best to paint every day, for at least an hour or more.

Lately, I have been trying out watercolor pencils, watercolor sticks and my latest is my new watercolor Sketchers’ Pocket Box from this awesome company, Winsor and Newton. They are some superb quality watercolor paints. I highly recommend them.

I can’t wait to see how much I’ve improved, a year from now.

Who Knew Watercolors Could be so Much Fun!

I’ve been experimenting with watercolors lately and I am loving them. Definitely my new favorite medium.

Drawing Llamas

I am now working on my llama skills. I think llamas are so adorable. I love their big beautiful eyes and long necks.

Interesting Facts about Llamas:

  • Llamas have an excellent sense of smell, hearing and eyesight.
  • Llamas are expressive animals.  If they are not happy with another llama, they will stick its tongue out, or spit on them.
  • Llamas are similar to camels, in that they can survive for weeks without water because they collect moisture from the food that they eat.
  • Llamas manure is almost odorless.  Wow!
  • Llamas can live to be 20 years old.
