My Throwback Art Pieces

“Mad Poet”
Artist, Katsushika Hokusai

Recently, I decided to share my earlier art pieces. I share these art pieces every Thursday and call them ‘Throwback Art Thursday’ on my Facebook and Instagram accounts. I thought I would share a couple of them here with you.

This one above is called the “Mad Poet.” The original piece was created by a phenomenal Japanese artist, Katsushika Hokusai, known simply as Hokusai. (1760-1849) This drawing was from an art class that I attended back in 1991. If my memory serves me correctly, I was required to use a Japanese brush and ink.

Hokusai was the first Japanese artist to be internationally recognized. One of Hokusai’s most famous art pieces is called. “The Great Wave off Kanagawa.” It was created with ink on a woodblock print back in 1831.

Lighthouse. Oil on canvas.

I painted this lighthouse using oil paints in 2001. If I remember correctly, it was created during a one-day class at a local park district before paint-and-sip places existed. This is, for sure, a medium I’m not used to using.

My Happy Place

My Happy Place
My very first art studio

I thought I’d share some photos of my happy place. My art studio. I lose track of the time when I’m in here.

Creating art makes my soul happy. It’s my escape from the, at times, stressful world we live in. Just my music, art, and my dog(s).

Where is your happy place? Comment below.

My Happy Place!

This is my happy place.  My Art Studio.  This is where I can let the world’s troubles cease in my mind.  This room is extraordinary because it used to be my late Mother-in-law’s living room.  Our family has many great memories of being in this room.

I always feel a sense of calm and joy whenever I am creating in this space.  There are many times that I sense my sweet Mother-in-law visiting me.  Mae is missed so very much by many.
